The War of The Titans

The Titans were the first children of Mother Earth (Gaea). They were very tall and big, and there were a total of six (the main titans) of them. They also had six sisters (the Titanesses) which they took as wives. After that, 6 more Titans were born (3 of them were Cyclops and the others have 50 heads and 100 arms). Mother Earth

Movie recommendations?
I am a college student who has a little bit too much time on my hands and I really need some good movie recommendations.
Here are probably my top favorite movies:

White Oleander
Running With Scissors
Little Miss Sunshine
The Chumscrubber
Lymelife
Wristcutters: A Love Story

Kind of random, but I tend to like the kind of "indie" movies and dark comedies about dysfunctional families. Any recommendations?

 Thumbsucker
—–suburban kid does drugs and is generally dissatisfied with life

Hallam Foe, Undertow, and Dear Wendy all have Jamie Bell [chumscrubber] in them

Thirteen
—-13 yr old girl does drugs and sex, etc

The History Boys
—–brilliant English movie I’ve watched two times this summer

The Invisible
——movie with justin Chatwin

United States of Leland [the movie that started me on that indie teen movie genre]

Saved
——-christian school full of hypocrites and confused teens

Speak
——-girl dealing with traumatic event

I loved ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’
Answer | Sep 09, 2009

I’d go with Chumscrubber, its a horror movie with Zombies, or Little Miss Sunshine less zombies but funny as hell, either would be worth the watch
The Upside of Anger
Have you seen 500 Days of Summer? It’s quickly become one of my favorites and it’s indie-ish. I really enjoyed the music in it.

juvie????? please answer!!!!!?
my friend and i wer playing around at skool today (saturday) and 1 hall door wasnt locked so we opened it and it set off an alarm and the cops came and found us. they also found a broken scanner but we had NOTHING to do with that. yet they are accusing us of breaking it. we r only 13. we walked around in the hall and left. we didnt break into any of the classrooms. the cops dont believe us though. my friend was thinking about taking a lie detector test or taking fingerprints off the broken scanner. what are the chances of us going to juvie? by the way, this is the 1st time we have ever gotton in trouble by the cops. 1st offense

Phil, a married high school teacher, has the same maturity level as his students when he’s with his pals. Stu, a dentist, is worried about everything, especially what his controlling girlfriend Melissa thinks. Because she disapproves of traditional male bonding rituals, Phil has to lie to her about the stag, he telling her that they are going on a wine tasting tour in the Napa Valley. Regardless, he intends on eventually marrying her, against the advice and wishes of his friends. And Alan seems to be unaware of what are considered the social graces of the western world. The morning after their arrival in Las Vegas, they awaken in their hotel suite each with the worst hangover. None remembers what happened in the past twelve or so hours. The suite is in shambles. And certain things are in the suite that shouldn’t be, and certain things that should be in the suite are missing. Probably the most important in the latter category is Doug. As Phil, Stu and Alan try to find Doug using only what little pieces of information they have at hand, they go on a journey of discovery of how certain things got into the suite and what happened to the missing items. However they are on a race for time as if they can’t find Doug in the next few hours, they are going to have to explain to Tracy why they are not yet back in Los Angeles. And even worse, they may not find Doug at all before the wedding.

Can Xanax wear out its feeling eventually?
I used to take xanax for my anxieties and it would give me a great sense of serenity and just overall clarity. After a couple months I tried it again and i can’t get that same feeling. Callahan is none too thrilled to be paired with Moore, but she more than proves herself when she and Harry pursue the terrorists to their hideout in the old prison of Alcatraz.

Penguins enforcer Eric Goddard is out for up to six weeks. Should they trade for someone to protect their star players?

I’m sure Adams and Rupp won’t hesitate to drop the gloves so I think making a trade would be rather near-sighted.
And to the answer above me, Despres is still with the QMJHL. He’s nowhere near ready to play NHL hockey. And he is a defenseman, which wouldn’t help at all, anyway.

What do you think of what's on Obama's "chopping block" for the budget?
* A long-discussed and controversial plan to build a nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. The proposal to eliminate $197 million for the project will have a powerful ally on Capitol Hill: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.
* Subsidies to wealthy farmers, a perennial budget target that has avoided getting hit in the past. The proposal would cut the cap on direct payments to wealthy farmers from $40,000 to $30,000 and reduce income eligibility to save nearly $2.3 billion over the next 10 years.
* A program that pays states to clean up abandoned coal mines that have already been cleaned up. Savings: $115 million next year and $1.2 billion over 10 years.
* A $5 million Forest Service economic development program that funded, among other things, "a water musical festival."
* A planned $20 million refurbishment of the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center in New Mexico. The linear accelerator was built 30 years ago and no longer plays a critical role in weapons research.
* A $120 million program that allows low-income people to get their Earned Income Tax Credit in advance. About 80 percent of those receiving early payments were later found ineligible.
* An $18 million program to clean up and redevelop "brownfields" — abandoned, idled and underused industrial and commercial facilities in urban areas.
* A $761 million reduction in spending on construction of housing for low-income elderly and those with disabilities.
* Pet congressional health service projects worth $383 million that are not subject to the usual competitive or merit-based process for funding. Included in the cuts would be proposed health care clinics in Alaska and Mississippi.
* A $12 million program to give grants to improve security on inter-city buses.
* Two National Park Service programs to restore historic buildings and promote heritage tourism, for a savings of $30 million.
* An exchange program for Alaska Natives, native Hawaiians, children and families living in Massachusetts and members of Indian tribes in Mississippi that have historic links to whaling and trading.
* Grants to sites related to the Underground Railroad.
* Grants to art organizations in the nation’s capital, including the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, for a savings of $5 million.

Personally, if he just cut out welfare and made people work then that would save enough money to buy back all our bonds from China, so he could then bow to the Dalai Lama as much as he wants.

Let’s start with the bloated social programs and pet projects. 50% reduction now, 100% by next year. Along with this, lets cut taxes and reduce government regulation to allow businesses to grow and thrive.

Most of the rest I agree with.Though I’m shocked he would be cutting funding for housing for poor and disabled, when in other parts of the Budget he’s escalating spending on Welfare Programs. But that Public Housing Cut will never make it through,in fact other than Yucca Mountain,I’ll bet most of those cuts don’t survive the Budget Process.

Your suggestion does not make sense. The welfare reforms of the 1990s already require able-bodied people to perform work in order to continue to receive benefits. Some states already had such programs in effect. Also, as a result of the Great Recession many more people are destitute. This is hardly the time to target welfare programs.

Not everyone is going to be entirely happy with any cuts in the federal budget. Those who are adversely affected or whose favored programs are targeted will be unhappy. Anyone can try to substitute his or her judgment for that of the decision makers but that does not make the conclusions correct.

Plot: Seriocomic story based on the memoir by Beverly Donofrio, the movie follows a young woman who finds her life radically altered by an event from her teen years. Born in 1950, Beverly grew up bright and ambitious in a working-class neighborhood in Connecticut; her father was a tough but good-hearted cop who listened to his daughter’s problems, and her mother was a nervous woman eager to imagine the worst. From an early age, Beverly displays a keen intelligence and an interest in literature, and dreams of going to college in New York and becoming a writer. However, she also develops an early interest in boys, and at 15 finds herself madly in love with a boy from her high school. However, an attempt to get his attention leads to an embarassing incident at a party, and Ray, a sweet but thick-headed 18-year-old, steps forward to defend her. Beverly and Ray end up making out, and after one thing leads to another, Beverly discovers she’s pregnant. Telling Ray is only marginally less difficult than informing her parents, and at 16, Beverly is a wife and mother. Against the odds, Beverly is determined to still finish high school and go on to college, but that goal becomes more difficult with time, especially after Beverly’s marriage begins to fall apart. Ray tries to do the right thing but has trouble holding a job, and becomes addicted to heroin.

What movie is this? I think its from the 90's?
The movie is about a boy who dies saving a person from a sinking car and goes to heaven. When he gets to heaven he is completely naked and has to get clothes. He later meets a girl there and they fall in love. The girl is getting sent down to earth as a baby though and they will be seperated. So the boy asks God if he would please send him down to earth as a baby too. So God says he will send him down, but he will have to find the girl on his own, and he will not have his memories of ever going to heaven and meeting her in the first place. He also has only a pre determined amount of time to do it. So the boy is sent down as a baby and ends up with a abusive family instead of the wonderful one he had before. Not remembering the girl, the boy goes and does whatever and eventually ends up somewhere needing a ride. The people that pick him up are actually his parents from his last life. Neither him or his parents know who they are because the boy looks different and has lost his memory of his past life. they end up telling him the story of their son, who he was, who died saving the person in the sinking car. the only other part i remember is when a bad guy from heaven, satan i think, comes down and reminds him a little bit about the girl since his time is coming close. I watched this movie as a child and don’t remember much else. if you know what movie this is please tell me!!!!! thanks so much!!!

Disguise yourself as if you were one of them. Say that you are "saved" repeatedly and that you are saved by faith alone and that the Holy Father (referred to as "that Catholic pope") is unbiblical. Then, find your way out of your neighborhood and move to another imaginary town.

if you wish them a merry brickmas, this should foster goodwill and they will leave you alone. I mean it is only two days untill Brickmas and only Alec Baldwin would dare abandon his Brickmas spirit and ignore the wishes of a true mason. Hope my advice was helpful!!

How is the story of Cinderella a metaphor for the French Revolution?
In my History class we were asked to assign a person, group of people, or event involved in the French revolution to represent certain characters of Cinderella. I’m having a little bit of difficulty, mainly because I’m only vaguely familiar with the story. So far I have this.

1. Cinderella- Metaphor for the 3rd estate, because they were oppressed.
2. The Wicked Sisters- The 1st and 2nd estate because they lived a luxurious lifestyle while Cinderella was forced to work.
3. Mother- represents King Louis because he prevented the 3rd estate from meeting with the 1st and 2nd estate, just as the mother prevented Cinderella from attending the ball to meet the Handsome Prince.
4.Fairy God Mother- The American Revolution, because it inspired the the French to start a revolution.
5. Handsome Prince- ??????
6. Glass Slipper- ?????
7. The Pumpkin- ???????

Any help at all with the rest would be really appreciated!

While this answer may be wrong, it’s worth a try, so here goes:

Handsome Prince- Liberty. What is the one thing that Cinderella/ the 3rd Estate wants more than anything? The Handsome Prince/Liberty. The 3rd Estate wanted Liberty by any means just as Cinderella wanted the Handsome Prince by any means… Leading on to the Pumpkin…

The Pumpkin- None other than Robespierre. This is because he was inspired by the American Revolution to get this liberty in the long term. The Pumpkin was created by the Fairy God Mother to get Cinderella to the Handsome Prince, thus leading to the Glass Slipper…

Glass Slipper- Our notorious Reign of Terror. The Reign of Terror was brought by Robespierre just as the Glass Slipper was brought to the palace by the Pumpkin. Not only this, but as the Reign of Terror took liberty from the people who didn’t believe in the French Revolution, the Glass Slipper did not allow the women who could not fit in it to have the Prince.

In the end of the story, the Glass Slipper fits on Cinderella’s foot, therefor giving her marraige to the Handsome Prince. In reality, however, the Reign of Terror did not give the 3rd Estate the Liberty that they were looking for.

The parallels between the two are uncanny, especially considering Cinderella was written in 1697 while the French Revolution began in 1789, almost a century later. Perhaps all of the French revolutionists were read the story of Cinderella as kids and their subconsciouses grasped at the subject of it, but that’s more of a psychological theory than anything else and highly unlikely.

Analysis- Is the story of Cinderella a harmless fairy tale or a social dilemma of modern society?

In retrospect, this question is poorly stated. Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the meanings behind Cinderella are debatable as well as whether it is a simple fairy tale or insinuating something more. To the uneducated eyes, Cinderella is, in fact, a harmless tale. However, obviously someone grasped the concept that the story is a prodigious metaphor or otherwise this wouldn’t be asked in your history class. The true reason Charles Perrault wrote the story in the first place is not explicitly known, but there has been some speculation that Cinderella is, in fact, a myth-based story of the peoples’ oppression and then triumph, but people may be reading too much into it. With the intent in writing the story unknown, one cannot make assumptions that Cinderella is either a story or a metaphor. Not only this, but since the question asks on whether it is a modern dilemma, this refutes any logistic reason that it would be this since none pertaining certain importance are occurring. All the same, one could make a legitimate argument that the story of Cinderella is a metaphor for a modern dilemma, but in my opinion, Cinderella was meant to be nothing more than a benign fairytale for small children.

If you’re unfamiliar with the plot of Cinderella you can find it at this url:

I hope this helped. And I hope you’re not in my history class because we’re doing the exact same thing.
